RFCM MARKET PLACE MINISTRIES

Market Place Ministry

Running For Christ Ministries

Marketplace ministry is the idea of using one’s work or business as a platform for Christian ministry and mission. It means seeing the places we live and work as opportunities to serve God and share His love with others. Marketplace ministry can involve evangelism, discipleship, social justice, community development, and other forms of Christian service. Marketplace ministry recognizes that God calls and equips His people to serve Him in all spheres of life, not just in the church. Some examples of marketplace ministry are:

A teacher who prays for her students and shares the gospel with them when appropriate.
A business owner who treats his employees with dignity and generosity, and supports local and global missions.
A plumber who fixes pipes and shares his testimony with his customers.
A lawyer who advocates for the rights of the oppressed and the marginalized.
A nurse who cares for the sick and the dying, and offers them hope and comfort.

Marketplace ministry is based on the biblical principle that God created us to work and to glorify Him in everything we do (Colossians 3:23-24). It also follows the example of Jesus, who spent most of His earthly life working as a carpenter and ministering to people in the marketplace (Mark 6:3; John 4:1-42). Marketplace ministry is a way of fulfilling the Great Commission, which commands us to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20). It is also a way of expressing the Great Commandment, which tells us to love God and our neighbor (Matthew 22:37-40).
